NOTD: French Manicure with a twist
Zoya has been hitting the runways with their a-typical french
manicure, with the base colour a smokey purple (Caitlin), and the tips a
grey (Dove). I first came across pictures of the nails on All Lacquered Up,
and she came up with her own french manicure with a twist! An accent
nail (ring finger) is painted grey with purple tips, while the rest of
the fingers were painted purple with grey tips.
I really like the combination a lot (especially's ALU's version), so I've decided to recreate the look! Unfortunately, I'm not skilled with french tips, and i couldn't find my nail sticker guides anywhere. Besides, I would be too lazy to wait for the polishes to dry down completely to use the stickers. So, pardon the overly-thick french tips!
Polishes used: Zoya's Caitlin and China Glaze's Pelican Grey (a very close dupe for Zoya's Dove. I skipped Dove since CG is cheaper)
Verdict:
So, what do you think of this atypical French Manicure? I like French manis in general, but I've always been bad at painting them. Having the darker color as the base seems to make the tips look better. A lighter base with a darker tip shows imperfections more clearly. But overall, I would say I like this combination. It's a fun combination, especially now that it's vacation, and I don't have to care what profs think of my nails.

My version, badly recreated.
