Get Organised: Nail Polish Swatch Sticks

Hi everyone! Today marks my very first post on organisational tips, and I hope that this entry will be useful if you face problems cataloguing and finding items in your collection.

Specifically, today’s entry looks at nail polishes. At last count, I have close to 160 bottles of nail polishes. And I admit, that is a lot of polishes. Previously, when my collection was smaller, I could roughly remember the polishes I own, and recall possible dupes in my collection. However, as it grew slowly but surely, there must be better ways to get organised.

And so, along with Lynn and Melissa, we purchased nail polish swatch sticks for swatching our entire collection! Each set comes with 50 nail tips, and a long nail that would allow you to keep 50 nail tips in a fan shape.

In order to keep track of which tip is painted with which shade, I made little labels for each stick. I followed the dimensions as found on The Polish Well, but changed the font to Calibri (size 8). In addition, I followed The Polish Well’s style of including information on the number of coats used per swatch, although admittedly, most are 2 coats each.

Don’t you think these look pretty? They offer an advantage over the 18/20-tip nail wheel, because it offers the flexibility to move your sticks around depending on the shades, your mood, theme etc. It also allows for easy comparison of dupes!

I have plans not to use the nails; instead, I plan on keeping them in a pretty glass vase, because they look gorgeous in that manner, and yes, I am extremely happy when I see them in that manner. Sure, that is a tiny bit more messy, but I don’t really have issues finding my polishes in that manner.

What do you think? Will you consider picking up some of these to organise your nail polish stash too? Share with me in the comments if you have other creative ways of keeping the sticks together!
