Swatch Series: Rimmel Beige Babe

It's been a long time since I posted a swatch of anything, so here goes Rimmel's Beige Babe, one of my 'newer' polishes.

Rimmel's Lycra Pro polish claims to be long-wearing (up to 10 days) and chip resistant. I'm assuming that's without base or top coat, but I had to slap on Seche Vite simply because, I wanted to move my hands asap.

The (only) colour I have is Beige Babe, which the-crimson-petal has always swatched on her blog. It's an interesting colour, appearing more purple under artificial light (mine's an energy-saving 8W daylight bulb), while appearing completely brown under natural light. Under direct sunlight, my eyes seem to be telling me there's some hidden shimmers, the way the light bounces off the polish.

Rimmel boasts of a maxi brush that will give "mistake free application", and while I wasn't used to the shape of the brush (it's tapered), it is an easy brush to wield, and I definitely didn't have any problems with applications. The only downside is, you definitely need to wait for each layer to dry and use an extremely light touch, or you'll get bald and uneven spots. I used 1 thin and 2 medium coats for the swatches below. And, if you notice any flaws in application, it's Seche Vite that shrunk the polish around the cuticles area. That probably explains my love-hate affair with Seche Vite at the moment.

All in all, I would say I quite like Rimmel's nail polishes. It's a pity that there's only a limited range in Singapore, because I wouldn't mind purchasing other colours from this range!
