Swatch Series: Nubar Reclaim
Continuing my holographic polish series, I saved the best for the last!
(Please excuse the tipwear. I couldn't
capture a good shot of Reclaim without the sun's cooperation, which came
a little too late)
Nubar Reclaim is part of their 2009 Going Green Collection. I chanced upon the last bottle of it on one site, and quickly snapped it up, and omg, it's drop-dead gorgeous!
Nubar claims it's a "medium holographic green". Medium it might be, but it's probably the best holographic effect I've seen. And yes, I think it's way prettier than China Glaze OMG polishes! As with other holographic polishes, the holo color-shifts in a rainbow manner. However, to my eyes, this particular rainbow of Reclaim has a strong yellow tone to it, which complements the base colour really well. The best part however, is that the impression you get is that of an expensive silk cloth memerizing you with its complex sheen and luxurious feel.
The holo itself is linear, and extremely smooth. Almost sophisticated. It's so... clean, and elegant. And it's so complex. What exactly is the base color? Grass green? Turquoise?
If you think the holo effect is only visible under direct sunlight, well, you're wrong. Completely wrong.
Taken under artificial light, the colour is warmed up (nevermind that I'm using a daylight lamp, and not warm light). The holo effect intensifies really. I'm really undecided which picture I prefer. The one that shows more green and yellow? Or the cooler one with more blue? Hmm...
Application-wise, it's a dream to apply. Reclaim was opaque in 2 coats, and it was an absolute breeze to apply. No streaks, no bald spots. And oh, I never felt the need for a topcoat for such polishes (and bad me, I didn't even put on a base coat!).
You know, I used to think it's silly to purchase a 'backup' bottle of polish. I mean, how often do you finish a nail polish? I thought Temptalia/Christine was mad to own 4 bottles of China Glaze For Audrey. But you know what? I'm definitely intending to purchase a backup. I found another site selling Reclaim, and I'm thinking of purchasing at least 2 more bottles of it. Madness, I tell you!
And, to end off this post, I shall spam you with another 3 more shots of Nubar Reclaim! Honestly, if you can, do purchase a bottle of it. I swear you will totally not regret it, even if you are not into green polishes. It's a MUST-BUY, and probably my favourite in my stash!
