Nail it: Border Nails

Alright, so I haven't been blogging. That's not to say I haven't been using anything (not much), or that I've neglected my nails (far from it). It's just the lazy me sitting in front of the computer playing Sims Social =)
Remember the puzzle I gave you all last week? Well, Melissa won! Yes, this is a franken made by moi, isn't it lovely? Perhaps I should not have added purple to the mix, because Mel is right in saying it reminds her of the Sasa polish. Oh wellz. And oh, Lynn is also partially correct, because it was mixed in an empty Beadstreet bottle! :p

Today's nail art is a simple one. Border nails have been the rage for some time, and while I've experimented playing with it, I haven't actually taken proper photos of my attempts. This time round, I followed Lynn's attempt, and used pink and black. It's amazing, but it took my ages to find a suitable pink, since I have way too few pinks, and even fewer in the slightly pastel hue I wanted it to be.

Do you see that thicker line on the middle finger? Well, actually, the black border peeled off after my shower, and before I took photos, boo. I patched it up, but obviously, the polish didn't want to sit nicely on top of the remains of the original polish, hence the ugly blob.

The pink base is Essie's Topless and Barefoot, while the borders were done with Art Deco's black striper. It's a good striper, but it started to get stringy/gloopy while I was painting the lines. And I really need to trim it that slight bit, because the tiny millimeter of hair sticking out above the rest is plain annoying.

So what do you think of this nail art? Nay or yay? I can't make up my mind whether I like this design, since it makes my nails look wider than they are. But I sure love the colour combination! With a little patience, this design can be done really quickly and neatly. =)
