Haul: Essence Cosmetics Singapore's Fruity Trend Edition
Since its arrival on Singapore's shores, Essence has
been one of my favourite brands for affordable nail polishes. More than
affordable, they have produced interesting, non-generic colours you
don't normally find in affordable brands.
Essence Fruity collection was one of the collections I wanted when it first appeared in Europe. As with their Limited Edition collections, the bottles contain a larger quantity than usual, in this case 10ml instead of 5/8ml. It is slightly more expensive, at $3.80 instead of $2.90. Just a note, this is an old LE collection that can no longer be found on the shelves. BUT, they might still be around for Essence Singapore's warehouse sales!
L - R: 02 Peachy Beauty, 03 Very Cherry, 04 One Kiwi A Day, 05 Mashed Berries
Brush wise, it resembles the older range, small and skinny. Formula was consistent across all the polishes I got, rather good for glitters! You might prefer to dap on the glitter for better effect too, if you're layering. But oh, the polishes turn goopy fairly fast when exposed to air, so work quickly.
I have here 4 polishes today! All of them are swatched with 2 layers on nail swatch tips.
02 Peachy Beauty
I picked this up last, at the Essence warehouse sale. Unlike the others, it is a solid cream that's rather pretty. Nothing wow-wow though, and the formula is a tad sheer.
03 Very Cherry
You would notice later that Very Cherry really looks like Mashed Berry in the bottle, but the differences are apparent in the swatches. I originally thought I would like this more than Mashed Berry, but for some odd reason, I felt that the orange shade didn't really compliment my skin tone that well. Although not captured, it also differs from Mashed Berry by having shimmers.
04 One Kiwi A Day
This was the first polish that caught my eyes. Having a perpetual weakness for all shades of green, it is difficult to pass up on a lime coloured polish! And, this is my favourite amongst the four, being the most unique of them all too!
05 Mashed Berries
While both polishes share the same purple glitters, the base color of Mashed Berries is more pink. Also, it does not contain the subtle shimmer that Very Cherry has. I'm glad I picked this up, because, I really like it quite a bit!
Final thoughts:
Overall, I think this is a decent collection by Essence. If you are still able to find it, I say, pick up One Kiwi A Day, because that is the most unique in this Trend Edition. The formula was easy to work with, and the price extremely easy on the pocket :D
