Holiday haul!
I'm finally home again! And this time, I'm going to settle down in
warm warm Singapore after 2 back-to-back overseas trips. The first
country was nice and cold, cold enough to wear a warm sweater and shiver
a bit. The second was just as hot, but hey, the hotel had 24hrs
air-con. =)

This haul is courtesy of Batam, where certain items are thankfully still inexpensive compapred to Singapore. It's such a tourist-sy place that it's actually cheaper to pay in SGD rather than rupiah. Case in point - I was at the ferry terminal about to leave Batam, and wanted to buy Kueh Lapis. The price for the original version was SGD 20 or Rp140,000. But, the exchange rate I had when I converted some SGD to Rp on Monday was 1 to Rp6,700, making it at least SGD1 more expensive if I pay in Rp.
Haul:
Items featured:
1. Pond's Pure White Deep Cleansing Facial Foam – 19,775Rp/ $2.95
I bought this on impulse. It’s kinda cheap, at less than $3. Pond’s has always been a brand I’m curious about, but Singapore doesn’t really carry a wide range of Pond’s products. If they do, the prices are in the range of $6+, which means I haven’t really felt the need to try them now and then.
I’ve used it about twice (I forgot to bring my cleanser while on holiday), and it’s an okay cleanser, nothing special. But then again, I don’t expect much from my cleanser – as long as it doesn’t make me break out, it’s an okay cleanser.
2. Sunsilk Damaged Hair Treatment (Orange tub) – 29,225Rp/ $4.36
I’ve reviewed this product before HERE. It’s still awesome after all these months, and this is my third tub! I purchased the second tub in Malaysia, and somehow, it didn’t feel as great as the first tub (not as moisturizing). So here goes the original Indonesian version, and hopefully, it will be slightly more moisturizing. I guess that tells you how dry my hair is, because I can moisturize my hair daily with this sort of hair mask products, without my hair weighing down etc. Daily moisturizers are hopeless on me, really.
3. Sunsilk Hair Fall Solution Hair Recovery Treatment - 29,225Rp/ $4.36
Another product bought on impulse. It was priced as cheaply as the other Sunsilk hair mask, and seeing how good a result I got from the other range, I decided to grab this to give it a try as well. After all, hair fall is a genetic problem on my mum’s side, and I think I might actually face problems with my hair as I age, so yeah, giving it a try!
4. Garnier Pure Pore Unblock Foam - 15,495 Rp/ $2.31
I’ve repurchased this quite a number of times. It’s actually my first cleanser/scrub that I ever bought, at the tender age of 12. I didn’t actually finish the first tub, because I never bothered with cleansers and all until 2-3 years back. It’s a nice scrub, gentle enough to be used everyday (I don’t), unlike the St Ives Apricot Scrub. Oh, I like the smell, which is partially the reason why I repurchased this several times when I don’t know what cleanser/scrub to purchase.
5. Pantene Hair Mask Daily Leave On - 15,625Rp/ $2.33
I purchased the smaller 45ml bottle in Malaysia, because it was only about $1.40 at Watsons. In Singapore, you can find it in the $2 bins of both Guardian and Watsons. I’ve tried using various leave-on hair products. Most of them are average, and I find them way too sticky for me. This product on the other hair is freaking awesome. You need just a little bit, and the product is absorbed very quickly. The result is silky soft hair that smells yummy. The price itself is extremely affordable at about $4.50 in Singapore, or about $2 in Indonesia. I guess I will do a proper review when I’m free!
6. Rohto Cool Eyedrops - 14,700Rp/ $2.19
Ah, another impulse buy. I’ve heard of this brand, but haven’t seen it in Singapore. frockandrolla was telling me that she purchased her bottle of Rohto eyedrops in Watsons Singapore, so I guess I just haven’t been looking hard enough. I don’t use eyedrops most of the time. My hair/skin/lips are always dry, but never my eyes, and I don’t wear contact lens. A quick search on the Internet revealed that this product is suitable for all purposes, i.e. for both normal users and contact lense users. The plus point of this is that it was really inexpensive in Indonesia, only slightly more than $2. Eyemo was even cheaper at only about $1.50.

So that concludes my fairly small haul. I did purchase a few other items recently, but honestly, I’m trying to stop spending on cosmetics. I’m way too lazy to use them daily (I usually give myself just enough time to brush my teeth, change and pack my bag, i.e. 15mins before leaving the house), and most items just sit in my drawers. I’m trying to make an effort to finish products that I don’t like either, just so they don’t sit around at home stoning.
So, brand new resolution (to be broken when my friend leaves for Taiwan in July, because I have to haul masks or it’s such a waste) is: NO MORE HAULING OF UNNECESSARY PRODUCTS!
