Swatch Series: Constance Carroll polish in Neon Yellow (Picture-heavy!)
You might have noticed that I've been blogging quite a bit recently,
and I hope no one is bored by the kind of posts I've been putting out.
It actually takes quite a lot of effort to blog constantly, but I have
been trying my best to write as regularly as possible. Most entries were
written over the weekend, simply because I had the mood to write a lot
more that 2 days. School results are really bleah, my worst result since
sem1, which also means I can't get my 1st class honours, booo. I shall
console myself that so far, only 1 guy in my department is on his way to
1st class, and everyone's hovering around the 4-4+ mark.

Enough talk about school. This is the latest addition to my polish collection (still small, whoosh). It's bright yellow, not quite a neon yellow as its name implies. So, why yellow? The answer: Chanel. Chanel the culprit has released a sunshine-yellow polish for their Summer 2011 collection, and I really like the swatches I've seen. If you check out my nail polish collection, I don't have a single yellow, because yellow hasn't really looked great against my skintone. Plus, they tend to be streaky, and I have zero patience for streaky polish, plus, I lack the skill to paint them decently.
That said, I'm sold by the yellow-polish trend. It's so summer-ish, which fits Singapore's currently extremely hot weather. And, it helps that school's out, so I'm in the mood to make full use of the bolder polish shades (long story why I stopped wearing my darker shades to school). This is cheap, at $2.00 at Mustafa Centre, so I guess I decided to hop onto the bandwagon and try out a brighter yellow polish.
The polish was actually decent, in that 2 thick coats gave a pretty even application. There is something strange about this polish though - it dries super quickly. Perhaps it really is 'neon' in that sense, because the polish dries as you paint it on your nails. The polish itself is not too watery, not too thick, which is nice. Anywayz, despite the polish drying super quickly, 2 thick coats ended up bubbling, which resulted in...
How ugly! All the bubbling on the nails! I couldn't take it, so I added a top coat to it (I don't normally, in case you're wondering).
Yeah, looks better. But it now looks super thick on the nails, as well as being fairly uneven in the application. Perhaps a quick drying top coat like Seche Vite would have been a better choice, because Seche Vite levels the polish for you.
Overall, it actually is supposed to dry matte, like a true neon. It's an awesome yellow polish against my skintone, bright and so summer-ish! I really love it, and the formula isn't the worse that I've used. For $2, it's worth the try, although I will try again with thinner coats of the polish.

So, have you jumped onto the yellow polish trend? If you have, leave a comment on worthy yellow polishes that I should try!
