Swatch Series: Eyeko Cosmic

After spacing out (pun totally intended, hahaha) in my photo folders for a bit, Eyeko's Cosmic nail polish has crashed down to Earth (><). I've finally cropped the photos and chosen some of the not-so-poor quality photos. The technical problem is of course, my lack of a decent camera with even more decent macro functions.

Eyeko nail polishes are 4-Free, and also does not include Camphor (information credited to All Lacquered Up, can't find this info on Eyeko's website at all! From all the various nail webbies, especially that of Scrangie, Eyeko used to have really cute packaging for their nail polishes! Nonetheless, their current packaging is tall (but not taller than OPI), and extremely slender. As a consequence, the brush is extremely long, longer than what I'm used to. I paid about S$5.00 a bottle, but the quantity is only 8.5ml, considerably less than that of a full-sized OPI, but much more than a mini-size bottle.

Eyeko.com described Cosmic as "Polish for Space Age Nails" (so tweeny-bobby, reminds me of adolescent boys and random space posters). It is supposedly a "unique midnight black shade loaded with multi-coloured glitters like fireworks in a night sky!"

I think it's a little more complex. At first glance, Cosmic appears black on the nails, no glitters visible from afar. As you approach the polish, you see pretty dense silver glitters that are spread all over. But they feel static, not moving, kinda boring. Then, pow-wow, the multi-coloured glitters are finally visible, shifting colours rapidly from orange to blue to red to yellow to orange.... that is, if you're busy moving your hands to create the effect too =)

The photos were taken when the manicure was about 4-5 days old, so pardon the visible nail tip. To be honest, I didn't even realise there were visible nail tips until after the photoshoot, when I was looking through the photos. The photos were taken under artificial light, in my home-made lightbox.

But I wasn't satisfied. Cosmic was growing on me, and i was really liking it. But yet, the photos felt so flat. So I thought, why not an outdoor shot? Or at least, one next to the window, natural light...

Bleah, still as flat! I'm blaming my camera for doing such massive injustice to the polish.

Then, it finally occured to me that I should use flash! Boohoo, now I can finally see those multi-coloured glitter! Not the best shots, but much better than the others =)

And so, this ends the massive picture-spam. My justification for this is that I really tried to do justice to the nail polish! Cosmic is definitely super pretty, nothing over the top. I wish it isn't so boring from afar (a guy friend asked me, "What's with girls and black polish?"), but at least I had fun staring at it on alone nights, when I should have been studying...

PS: I think the lightbox photos were taken with flash! >< But it's so long ago, I can't remember.
PPS: Making its appearance in the photoshoot is Missha's Perfect Cover BB Cream!
