Twistbands
As the tag says, Twistbands are versatile elastic trims that function as ponybands and hair ties. Available in a wide variety of colours. Twistbands are meant to be fashionable yet practical, holding your hair up, without tugging your hair, or leaving dents.
The set I own is called "Solid Lucy", comprising of a raspberry, ballet pink and cherry-coloured bands. Being one of those girls who dislike pinks in general, I kept only the Ballet Pink for myself, and gave the other 2 away to friends. Retailing at USD5.00 for a set of 3 (or S$6.50 at Bellabox.sg), this is definitely more expensive than normal hair ties I usually purchase.
I've been using it over the past 2 months, alternating with my normal black hair tie. Does it live up to all its hype? Well, not really, in my opinion. Sure, the band is softer compared to my usual hair tie. But, it continues to leave a slight dent (to be fair, less than usual) after I remove it. Even though it is elastic, it doesn't hold my hair as well as the other hair tie, with the annoying tendency to slide down my hair after a couple of hours. It is more comfortable to put it on my wrists. But, I don't usually leave my hair untied, so this is not really a consideration for me. I've been using it for such a short period of time, so I honestly don't know if it will fray sometime soon. However, Min Ru (of Musicplayon) reported furrings just 1 month into using it.
Would I recommend getting a set of Twistbands? For that price, no, unless you usually suffer from massive headaches after using a normal hair tie. Or, if you have the tendency to leave the bands on your wrists. Otherwise, my 6 for $1 hair ties work lovely, and I can lose them without worrying about the steady flow of money I'm wasting (and yes, I lose a lot of hair ties, weird).
PS: I will get around to buying elastic trim, and making my own 'Twistbands'!
