Swatch Series: Orly Space Cadet
Orly's Space Cadet came from Orly's highly-raved Cosmic FX collection
in 2010, and is pretty much considered the star of the collection. I
skipped the entire collection, thinking that despite the pretty colours,
they wouldn't be great on my nails. And I didn't have any good
impressions of Space Cadet when I first obtained it about 3-4 months
back, that this is the first time I'm wearing it as a full manicure!
The main problem I had with Space Cadet was opacity. I'm not a patient person, and I cannot for my life sit still to paint 3 to 4 coats. Space Cadet took 3 thin coats to be semi-opaque, and 4 medium coats to be fully opaque. Not fun at all.
But I'm glad I finally sat down and painted my nails properly, because Space Cadet is gorgeous! It's one of those polishes that look way better in real life, because cameras don't do it any justice. The way the nails flash that weird green, then yellow, then pink is amazing.

If you're wondering why the ring finger looks different, you have really good eyesight! I have 2 layers of OPI I Juggle... Men on top of the 3 layers of Space Cadet. It's pretty, but it somewhat destroyed the duochrome effect. Also, the duochrome effect was much more obvious before I put on a coat of Poshe's Super-fast Drying Top Coat. I take my words back. it's only the lighting! Space Cadet is beyond gorgeousness in sunlight, omg. Both Poshe and OPI created obvious tip-wear, and is somewhat irksome.
There is at least 1 other drawback to a wonderful polish, and that is, it took forever to dry. I put on a coat of Poshe, and yet, I managed to destroy the polish on my thumb.
That said, those drawbacks are pretty minor considering the pretty flashy duochrome effect! It's pretty much a must-have if you're up for strange-coloured nail polishes, and are willing to splurge on the Cosmic FX collection (they're more expensive than normal Orlys). But trust me, your money is definitely going to be well-spent.
