Haul: Essence Color 3 Polishes & Quick Swatches!

Okay, so I'm a terrible blogger. It has been 2 weeks since I last blogged >< In my defense, I do have posts drafted, especially those on nail art. The problem? I painted top coat over them, and now, I'm too lazy to re-take photos and edit them.

No matter, because for today (finally!), I'm going to show you pictures of some new Essence polishes!

~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~
In case you haven't heard of Essence, it's a European brand that has been making waves in the bloggers' community, famed for their good quality products at a low price point. I haven't had the chance to try out their makeup products, but I've heard good reviews on most products.
The one product I definitely like from Essence is the nail polishes! I've previously blogged about Time for Romance (bought a backup!), as well as Blue Addicted (sadly, still OOS). The Color 3 polishes are a new addition to the Singapore's display, and I must say, I'm impressed!
They're essentially 2 different shades housed in 1 bottle. On one side (on the left) is the base color. The other shade is meant to be layered over the base, to create a completely different color!
Boys Are Back in Town has a smokey purple base. It's really pigmented, but I did 2 coats anyway for this swatch.
Slap on a thin layer of the sparkling stuff on the other side, and bam, you have jazzed-up nails! The layering side is really really gorgeous. It's somewhat similar to OPI I Juggle... Men (and I've got a complaint to file in another entry), but a lot easier to apply. It's mostly dominated by blue and pink sparkles, and easily one of my favourite layering polishes at the moment.
The base color for Midnight Date is a standard dark blue shimmer. Well, it's pretty, but it's rather normal, nothing much to oh-ah over.
BUT, you slap on the layering polish, and now you have it. A polish to go gaga over, because it's FLAKIES! It totally reminds me of Blue Addicted, but I'm thinking you'll need to layer another coat of it to get a nicer effect.
Finally, we have my favourite amongst the 3, i.e. Ticket to the Show.
Okay, I'm annoyed. I can't capture just how bloody gorgeous the base colour is. It's a vampy base with LOTS of tiny shimmers. Blue, pink, and gold are the dominant ones, although I'm sure there're other colours.
The layering end is another gorgeous olive-based shimmer. The only thing I have to complain about is how opaque it is, because I would love to have more of the base color peeking through
.
And so that's my Essence haul! Didn't I tell you Essence has pretty good quality stuff? One of the major problems I had with this though is the price. It is currently priced at S$6.10 for 8ml of polish (4ml on each side), which means it costs around $11.40 for 15ml. This makes it more expensive thsn China Glaze or OPI. That said, how often do you even finish 4ml of polish eh?
